This morning, the Walmart Roanoke - North Highway 377 store held a Re-Grand Opening and presented the Trophy Club Fire Department with a Local Community Grant check for $3,000.
Ms. Anita Otterson worked tirelessly to apply for and receive the Local Community Grant on behalf of the Town and the Fire Department. The funds will be used for a fire safety calendar program that will be implemented in October during National Fire Safety Month. TC firefighters will visit local elementary schools (grades K-3) with fire safety messages throughout October. Students will be encouraged to create a poster for a topic firefighters discussed in their class. Winning posters will be turned in to a 2020 fire safety calendar that will encourage and remind families to stay safe. Calendars will be distributed to Trophy Club elementary school children.
The local community grants are awarded through an open application process and provide funding directly from Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to local organizations in the U.S.
Thank you to Walmart and our Trophy Club Fire Department for setting the safety of our youth as a priority!
