Honored to be Invited to the NTX Job Fair

Posted on June 22, 2021 at 12:45 PM by Jill Lind

Trophy Club Mayor Alicia FleuryCongresswoman Beth Van Duyne has announced a North Texas Job Fair hosted by her office at the Irving Convention Center on July 15, 2021 from 1-6 PM. The Congresswoman will be joined by over 40 State Representatives, State Senators, and local bipartisan Mayors, including myself.

I’m excited to co-host the North Texas Job Fair on July 15th! Almost every business owner I know has spoken to me about their need for employees. As unemployment benefits end June 26th, we are supporting North Texas to reconnect as many people as we can with jobs.

There will be more than 130 businesses in the area participating such as Toyota, Amazon and American Airlines who are all looking to hire employees. Details here:

I hope to see you there!

Mayor Pro Tem Lamont's May Recap

Posted on June 15, 2021 at 11:50 AM by Jill Lind

June 10, 2021:

Well, this may have been the wettest May in our history according to some sources, regardless it was a lot of rain.

IMG_0835Former Mayor Marshall Engelbeck passed away, he had a storied volunteer career that included being a Council Member and our Mayor. When Marshall and Ronnie moved back to Trophy Club it was around the corner from us and I spent many hours with them reliving the history and beginning of Trophy Club. The Town issued a wonderful proclamation and it is available to read HERE. Janet and I wish Ronnie send our deepest sympathy and wish her all the best going forward.

We received an update from the Trophy Club Woman’s Club highlighting their Mother’s Day weekend Art and Garden Festival and what a great success it was. It was a fun time and TCWC plans on making their Art and Garden Festival an ANNUAL Mother’s Day Weekend event in Trophy Club.

Aloft Hotel located in the Trophy Club Town Square (Clock Tower) area received their alcohol permit and will be opening in the coming months, they plan on making their bar an open air style and gallery deck with a happy hour that sounds fantastic. It will be called WXYZ, best friends hangout spot. They are having a Muralist of the Year Contest with prizes, if you know of anyone that may be interested here is the website to visit:

The Aloft location along with the opening of Blue 22 Sports Grill (a sports bar) and Wing Stop located in the same shopping center and the soon to open “The Trophy Table” in the former Breadwinners location will make staying in Trophy Club that much easier.

A preliminary plat was approved for the former gas well site located at Trophy Club Dr. and Bobcat Boulevard lots will be a minimum size of 12,000 sq.ft.

May Proclamations:
  • Trophy Club ranked the #1 Safest City in Texas
  • Police week of May 9-15 and
  • Peace Officer’s Memorial Day
  • Mental Health Awareness Month
  • Patriotic Meaning of Memorial Day

Our Mayor and fellow Council Members would like to welcome Dennis Sheridan as the newest Council Member for Place 1 and welcome back Karl Monger Place 4 to the Council as well.

Until next time, see you around the Town.

Summer Fun in the June Sun

Posted on June 9, 2021 at 8:51 AM by Jill Lind

May was certainly a busy month with lots of changes and a few bumps along the way!  We parted ways with Town Manager Steve Norwood and appointed Wade Carroll to the role of Interim Town Manager.

Mr. Carroll has been with the Town of Trophy Club since 2017. He has served as Assistant Town Manager since November 2019. Before that, he was the Interim Town Manager for five months in 2019 after having served two years as Fire Chief. Wade is an accomplished leader and has a proven track record here in Trophy Club. He has led our community successfully before, and that’s why the Town Council is confident he’s the right person to do so now.

In addition to Wade’s new role, we are also saying hello to our new Recreation Superintendent Sumner Haye. Mr. Haye is coming to us from the City of McKinney Apex Centre where he served as their Sales & Marketing Supervisor. Sumner attended Dallas Baptist University and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and has enjoyed working for McKinney’s Parks and Recreation Department for the past eight years.

As for the bumps, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the unfortunate incident during the May 25th Council Meeting. We can always agree to disagree, without being disagreeable, and make a conscience effort not to fall into a lynch mob mentality when expressing our displeasure.

With May now behind us, we are excited to Kick-Off our long-awaited Summer season, filled with lots of amenities and activities for all to enjoy!
